How do I pay a CCJ?

You pay the person or business (the claimant) that made the claim against you. The court cannot accept your payments.

The judgment should tell you the date by which you must pay the claimant. Do not get behind with your payments as the claimant can ask the court to take enforcement steps to make you pay and this will mean you have extra costs to pay.

The name and address for payment will be on your judgment form. If the judgment tells you to pay by instalments then ask the claimant about how you should pay.

Use a method that gives you proof you paid eg cheques, postal order, standing order from your bank and keep your own record of the payments you make.
