What is the Individual Insolvency Register (IIR)?

The register holds details on:

  • Bankruptcies that are current or have ended in the last 3 months
  • Debt relief orders that are current or have ended in the last 3 months
  • Current individual voluntary arrangements (IVAs) and Fast-track voluntary arrangements (FVAs), including those that have ended in the last 3 months
  • Current bankruptcy restrictions orders or undertakings (BROs/BRUs) and interim bankruptcy restrictions orders (iBROs)
  • Current debt relief restrictions orders or undertakings (DRROs/DRRUs) and interim debt relief restrictions orders (IDRROs)

What information does the Individual Insolvency register give me access to?

Bankruptcy Orders

  • name (including any other known names)
  • occupation and trading details
  • date of birth
  • last known address
  • gender
  • details of current bankruptcy order
  • automatic discharge date or date the discharge period was suspended
  • name and address of any insolvency practitioner appointed as trustee
  • official receiver’s address
  • details of any bankruptcy order made in the 6 year period prior to the latest bankruptcy order

Debt Relief Orders

  • name
  • occupation
  • name and address and type of any business they may have had (including whether they traded alone or with someone else)
  • date of birth
  • details of the debt relief order
  • date the debt relief order ’moratorium’ period ended or will end
  • details of any debt relief order or bankruptcy order made in the 6 year period prior to the latest debt relief order against the individual

Individual Voluntary Arrangements and fast-track voluntary arrangements

  • name
  • last known address
  • date of birth

  • date the arrangement was approved by creditors
  • name and address of the supervisor

Bankruptcy Restrictions Orders or Undertakings and Interim Bankruptcy Restrictions Orders

How long do details stay on the IIR?

Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy stays on the IIR for 3 months after the date of discharge.

If bankruptcy is rescinded or cancelled on the grounds that it ought not to have been made, the record of the bankruptcy is removed 28 days after the Secretary of State receives notice of the order

If bankruptcy is cancelled because the debts have been paid in full or creditors have approved an IVA, the record of he bankruptcy stays on the IIR for 3 months after the Secretary of State receives notice of the order.

Debt relief order

Debt relief orders stay on the register for 3 months after the moratorium period has ended or the order is revoked.

Individual voluntary arrangements and fast-track voluntary arrangements

Arrangements stay on the register for a period of 3 months after the Secretary of State receies notice that the arrangement has been revoked, fully implemented or terminated.

Debt relief restrictions orders or undertakings and interim debt relief restrictions orders

Orders remain on the IIR until the date stipulated in the court order or undertaking. The entry is removed earlier upon receipt of notice that the order has ceased to have effect.
